CBD Oil or Butter
When you’re putting CBD into foods, you’ll basically be replacing oil (at least partially) with CBD oil and butter with CBD butter. We’re going to assume that you’re going to buy CBD oil, but if you want to check out our guide for How to Make CBD Oil, that’s fine too. If it’s oil, you’ve already got it, but if the recipe calls for butter, you need to make it. It’s very easy, and here’s how to do it:
- Cut 1 lb of unsalted butter up into smaller pieces and place them in a medium sauce pan.
- Add CBD oil according to the strength you’d like the butter to be. We recommend 15-25 drops per pound of butter.
- Add a half cup of water.
- Turn on low heat (the lower the better), and cook for 2 – 2 ½ hours, stirring regularly.
- When the water has evaporated, your mixture is done. Pour it into a container and put in the refrigerator.
- After three hours in the fridge, you have CBD butter!

Make CBD Edibles at Home | A Few Tips
We’ve made this sound very easy, and it is! There are a few things you should watch out for though. First of all, CBD can begin to break down at high heat. Sometimes this breaks down to a question of when to add the oil or butter. To maintain the best results, we recommend avoiding having the oil or butter in the mixture when it’s under the highest heat. Sometimes, this will be unavoidable, but that’s okay. Experiment a little and find out what works best for you!
